The tension between Arab and Israel emerged in the early 20th century when Ottoman Empire lost in the WWI and Palestine became colonized by England. This incident caused the increase number of Jews to move into Palestine and when Araba required the restriction of the number to enter Palestine, the consensus was not made and aroused conflicts. During 1948 to 1973, there were four major wars that occurred between Israel, Arab, and their surrounding countries—1948 War of Independence, 1956 Sinai War, 1967 Six Day War, and 1973 Yom Kippur War.
War of 1948 was the war known as the “War of Independence” because it happened when Israel proposed the plan to establish Araba and Jewish states in Palestine. Arab had rejected the offer and it fused as the cause of the war. Ultimately, Israel won the war and it was distributed more of the land than they originally would have got.
War of 1956 originated from Egyptian President Nasser’s decision to nationalize the Suez Canal because the construction of Aswan High Dam by United States and England was suspended. As part of main management shareholders, France and England strongly opposed and they aided Israel to incite the war between Egypt. However as the conflict grew more intense, the criticism arose internationally and was called to cease fire by the United Nations, guaranteeing the Israeli freedom of shipment while the Egypt was allowed to nationalize the canal.
War of 1967 was initiated by IAF’s surprising air strikes that destroyed the entire Egyptian air force. With the successful attack, Israel captured the West Bank and the Golan Heights from Syria. This fight lasted for six days and a peaceful solution remains controversial because Israel would be required to withdraw many of the territory in order to conform to the resolution.
War of 1973 started with the Egypt’s intention to claim back its lost land from the past wars. Egypt initiated the war by attacking the Israel with Syria during the period of Yom Kippur when the Israeli were resting. This unexpected attack delayed Israeli’s correspondence and allowed Egypt to colonize the Eastern coast. Later, Israeli started to fight back and claimed back the Golan and the Eastern coast. During the war, Arab even induced the oil crisis in the world to win advantage over Israel.
